Carried
by Margarete Schebesch
In the beginning, you were in my body,
So near, and I was never alone,
And our mutual bond grew stronger
And then you were born – and suddenly gone.
At first with my hands, I started to hold you
A little anxious, but courage came fast.
I learned to send you my thoughts and my wishes
And read your desires, and courage would last.
And then on my back you would sit and be with me
On every day, anytime, anywhere,
And our thoughts out of love could build bridges
And there was nothing we would not share.
Today in my thoughts I can only carry
My dearest child, because you have grown
But our love still holds us together,
I let you go, but you're never alone.
